Just an update regarding the ‘Yemen Champions Trophy 2017‘, which was held on the 31st of December, 2017.  Firstly, we would like to apologise for the untimely nature of this post, as we were waiting on a variety of aspects which were beyond our control.
On to the tournament itself, congratulations to our 2017 ‘Champions Trophy’ winners – Lightning Stars, having persevered for the past three years, they can finally hold aloft the champions trophy and deservedly so, having overcome ‘BnQ CC’ in a tense and exhilarating final (highlights can be viewed below). This makes it our fourth different winner since we started hosting this event (the previous three being CBP CC (2014), NTi (2015) and BnQ CC (2016)), Lightning Stars can now be added to that illustrious list.
The event itself was a huge success, with a fun family atmosphere and a large number of spectators attending, which contributed in making it a vibrant spectacle. Alhumdulilah, we managed to raise £11,183.76 for Islamic Relief’ ‘Emergency Cholera appeal’. The money raised will be used to provide medical aid for the suffering people of Yemen. We would like to thank the teams, the umpires, the volunteers and spectators for their contributions during the course of this event, helping to make this an extremely successful and enjoyable experience. Jazak Allahu Khairan.
Having reached our initial £40,000.00 target, this milestone marks an end to our partnership with Islamic Relief. We would like to specifically thank them for allowing us this opportunity and giving us the support needed to host the ‘Family Fun day‘ event and the ‘Yemen Champions Trophy‘.
