Helping someone in need

hajjMy uncle, whom resides in Pakistan had a desire to fulfil his Hajj. However, he did not have the financial means to do so, neither did he have any children he could rely on for support, which made me even more privileged to help in any way I could. I felt obligated to help him, not because he was related to me, but because of benevolence and having sympathy towards a fellow human. I started by asking my immediate family, starting with my mother who was eager to do the collection and was the first to donate. After this I asked my friends from Raise for Life and my networks, to my amazement we quite quickly managed to raise the required funds.

hajj01He went on Hajj during October 2014 and completed his pilgrimage successfully despite falling ill and finding it challenging due to his age, however he loved every moment of it and when he returned he was ecstatic about his experience and ever thankful to all those that had made it possible. I will not forget all the effort that my brother in law put into making all the arrangements and getting all the paperwork organised for the trip.

I am thankful to Almighty Allah for such an opportunity to help a close family member. Going out of your way to help someone and reaching out to family and friends to support for a common cause is what we at Raise for Life are about and this time it was personal to me and therefore felt even more special. All it takes is a little effort on your part and Allah (SWT) will do the rest.
