Announcing our new charity partner

Raise for Life would like to take this opportunity to announce our new charity partner. Islamic Relief, founded in 1984 and providing international aid and development charity have undertaken an emergency ‘Cholera Appeal’ in Yemen and Raise for Life will be supporting this project for the foreseeable future.

The Arab world’s poorest nation, Yemen, is currently facing a cholera epidemic, with thousands currently at risk and seven million on the cusp of famine. Due to the collapse of Yemen’s infrastructure after more than two years of war and poor access to health-care services and limited ability of health workers currently in Yemen, the upsurge of cholera outbreaks has increased tenfold. Recent heavy rains have enabled the spike in cases and have contaminated some water sources with uncollected garbage. In addition, warmer weather is creating a favourable environment for the pathogens that cause the disease to spread. A report recently published by the Red Cross suspected that cholera cases have now surpassed 300,000.

The main aim(s) of this project are as follows:

  • Procurement of medical supplies for cholera treatment
  • Distribution of 500 Hygiene kits
  • Provision of chlorine tabs (36,500 Tablets) for chlorination of water tanks

Raise for Life will be organising numerous events throughout the year, hoping to raise funds and awareness for this initiative. We look forward to your continued support during this time.

Stay tuned!
