Eid Mubarak & Updates

Firstly ‘Raise for Life’ would like to wish everyone a Blessed Eid. Ramadhan may have come and gone, but please let us continue to have some relationship with every positive aspect we have experienced throughout the month of Ramadhan, whether it be praying our Salah, reciting the Qur’an, giving charity or showing patience. Please let us perpetuate our good deeds moving forward. Ameen.

It has been an eventful and arduous eight months for ‘Raise for Life’, working with three different charities throughout late 2016 – early 2017. Below is a rough breakdown of which charity partners we worked with, what was raised and how the money raised will be used to help a variety of destitute individuals around the world.

The first charitable organisation ‘Raise for Life’ worked with was SABA Relief & Development Foundation, raising money for their ‘Send Me to School’ campaign.  Raise for Life organised a family fun day, which took place on Saturday the 29th of October at ‘Wibbly Wobbly World of Play’.  We managed to raise over £5000 (official total was £5,052.32) for the specified charity details and an overview of the event itself can be viewed here and here.

The second charity we collaborated with was As-Suffa Institute, raising money for their ‘Birmingham Homeless outreach’ initiative. This particular project was close to our hearts, as it is based in Birmingham and a variety of ‘Raise for Life’ members regularly attend to help with the food distribution. We organised a cricket tournament (Birmingham Champions Trophy 2016) which was held at the Edgbaston indoor Cricket centre on the 27th of December, 2016. Alhumdulilah we managed to raise £12,554.30 from this event.  A cheque for this amount was presented to ‘As Suffa’ representatives Altaf Hussain Kazi and Yassar Taj at their weekly soup kitchen (located at The Arch, Lionel Street, B3 1AQ). Details of the tournament can be viewed here.

The third and final charity we worked with was ‘Al Khair Foundation‘, raising money for water filtration systems, which would be constructed in the most deprived areas of Pakistan. To raise money for this initiative, we participated in the Regency 10k run, which is held annually in Leamington Spa. The forty runners who participated, managed to raise £13,257.56 via sponsorship Al’hum’dulilah. A cheque for this amount was presented to ‘Al Khair’ representatives, brother Muzammel and Dr. Jafer Qureshi at their Birmingham office, (which is situated at 210 Ladypool Rd, Birmingham B12 8JT). An overview of the 10k run can be viewed here

During this time, we collectively raised £30,864.18 Al’hum’dulilah. ‘Raise for Life’ are currently on hiatus and we will reconvene during the following month with details of our new project In’Sha’Allah. Thank you again for supporting us throughout our charitable endevours.
